METS YOGA DAY AT CITI FIELD WITH STEPH ARMIJO

Best Day Ever. Steph has been able to bring together her two favorite things for a very special day at the ballpark. Mets Yoga Day is a special event at Citi Field where yogis have the opportunity to practice yoga down on the outfield grass prior to a game. Ticket to event includes admission to game that evening. Keep checking for updated information on our next Yoga Day at the ballpark! Information is also available at mets.com/yoga.

CORPORATE YOGA

Corporate yoga classes take place on-site and Steph is available to teach morning, lunch sessions, or after work. Yoga classes are all-levels (beginners welcome). Modifications will be given for poses so you can always take class at your own pace. Yoga is about moving within your range of motion and yoga helps with flexibility.

There are many different types of yoga. Steph teaches an alignment-based vinyasa flow class. We will get set up in each pose with safe, proper alignment, and spend a few breaths in each pose. Smooth transitions give you the opportunity to practice moving with your breath. There is no chanting, incense, or spiritual elements to this class. We listen to regular music and keep it light.

Classes typically begin with a dynamic, whole body sequence designed to raise body temperature. The practice would then move on to active stretching, which includes standing postures that require muscular effort and balance. The next progression of poses is static stretching, which may be standing or seated, and require less muscular effort and a longer hold time. The yoga practice would end with passive stretching, which is done lying down and requires no muscular effort.

COMMITMENT TO YOUTH

Steph supports local charities bringing yoga to our youth.

Steph has worked with DREAM Charter School (formerly Harlem RBI), teaching yoga classes weekly on site during school (to 1st & 3rd graders) and after school as part of their activity enrichment programming.

Steph volunteered with Power Play NYC teaching yoga to teenage girls at their youth conference each year. Power Play NYC is a non-profit that develops girls through sports. Girls participate in sports in NYC at half the rate boys do. If girls do not get involved in sports by the age of 13, it’s unlikely they ever will participate.

Steph has taught yoga and meditation for the Jackie Robinson Foundation during their annual Mentoring and Leadership Conference.
